Commencement of landlords requiring a licence to operate in a Selective Landlord Licensing area
The Council of the City of Salford hereby gives notice of the designation of Selective Landlord Licensing in accordance with the Housing Act 2004 for the Barton, Winton and Eccles area. This designation was made under The Housing Act 2004: Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and Selective Licensing of Other Residential accommodation (England) General Approval (2015), pursuant to section 82, of the Housing Act 2004 and was made on 24 May 2022. The designation was not required to be confirmed and will commence on 1 September 2022 and will last for five years, unless revoked at an earlier date. Under the scheme, private landlords who rent out a property, which falls within this area, will be required to apply for a licence, subject to any statutory exemptions. The designation may be inspected at Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Rd, Swinton, M27 5BY.
After 1 December 2022, the consequences of failing to licence a property that is required to be licensed include a criminal sanction of a fine or a civil penalty, having a rent repayment order, interim management order or final management order made against them.
The area covered by this designation is bounded by the following roads and boundaries: Peel Street, Corporation Road, Barton Lane, Alma Street, Garden Street, Boardman Street, Pleasant Road, Trafford Road, Cawdor Street, Legh Street, Hall Bank, Hampden Grove.
