OUR PASS NOT ONLY ALLOWS THEIR MEMBERS FREE BUS TRAVEL IN GREATER MANCHESTER, BUT ALSO ACCESS TO MANY OTHER OFFERS AND EXPERIENCES

-

Those aged 16-18 in the Greater Manchester area have the opportunity to attend cricket matches, soak up the atmosphere at Emirates Old Trafford, and catch some exciting fixtures including four Vitality Boost matches, which promise explosive action and plenty of good-natured local rivalries. Our Pass - in partnership with Lancashire Cricket Club - are offering their members a chance to claim two free tickets for themselves and a plus one, from 5,000 tickets across the summer season.

Sandy Mitchell, Head of Community Growth for the Lancashire Cricket Foundation said: ‘Lancashire Cricket are delighted to be working with Our Pass to provide opportunities for the young people of Greater Manchester to watch some first class sporting entertainment at Emirates Old Trafford and to encourage the next generation of cricket fans through these positive and inspirational experiences.’

“The initiative is a key component of the Inspiring Generations: A Cricket Strategy for Greater Manchester which aims to increase the reach of cricket throughout the metropolitan county.”

Through the Our Pass exclusive offers scheme, Thalaya Darr was able to take her dad to the cricket at Emirates Old Trafford. She described the atmosphere of the ground as “electric, filled with colour and excitement from the very start”, and an experience that meant more to her father than she had even realised.

“Being able to go to Old Trafford with my dad was really special because he’s involved with the cricket scene heavily so I got to appreciate what it’s meant to him all these years. From coaching local clubs, to training with some of the Pakistan players when I was a child, I always knew the sport was significant to my dad, but experiencing it with him at an age where I can understand it was great,” she said.

“Honestly, it’s made me feel like I want to try and play again just for the fun of it, and go to more matches. I can imagine going again with more family members and them loving it just as much as my Dad and I did.”

Part of a four year pilot programme, Our Pass is a travel card and membership scheme for young people who live in Greater Manchester, and supports both school leavers and care leavers. The pass offers eligible 16-18-year-olds free bus travel on most local bus services across Greater Manchester, making it easier to access education, work, training, culture and leisure in the city-region.

For a one-off £10 registration fee, members can then travel any day of the week, for free, as well as half-price off-peak travel on the Metrolink. The benefits extend beyond travel however, and being an

Our Pass member unlocks a number of exclusive offers and experiences: including discounts, special offers, free tickets, swimming and leisure passes, merchandise, taster sessions and more.

Since Our Pass launched in September 2019, more than 115,000 cards have been issued and members have made more than 26 million journeys. Nearly 72 per cent of eligible young people across Greater Manchester now hold an Our Pass card, and therefore can capitalise on the many benefits and additional advantages owning one offers.

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham said: “I’m so happy to see Lancashire Cricket Foundation supporting Our Pass to give the young people of Greater Manchester a chance to experience something new this summer.”

“We know that our young people have sacrificed a lot over the last couple of years. For our Year 12’s now starting something new, Our Pass is there for you. It’s one way in which we can help to make things better. It’s there to unlock the city-region, a pass to all 10 boroughs.”
