-

JURORS heard a 999 call made after Ryan Giggs allegedly headbutted his former partner.

They listened to two 999 calls made by Kate Greville’s sister Emma on the evening of November 1, 2020. The first was placed at 10.05pm lasting four minutes and 50 seconds, with the second at 10.11pm, which lasted five minutes and 17 seconds.

‘Screaming’ and crying could be heard at times during the call. During the 999 call Ms Greville claimed that Mr Giggs was ‘going to headbutt me too’.

When asked who was responsible for the alleged assault, Emma Greville said: “Ryan Giggs, footballer Ryan Giggs.” The call handler replied: “Ok, as in the, like the Ryan Giggs?”

The court heard a police officer who attended the scene said he could see ‘straight away’ that Kate Greville had a ‘swollen top and bottom lip with significant bruising’. He said Mr Giggs had ‘blood around his mouth’.

The call handler asks: “Does she need an ambulance, that lady who is screaming in the background?”

Emma Greville replies: “I think, yeah. He has just headbutted her in the face. What. Ryan I’m saying anything I want to f***ing say, you have headbutted my sister. I don’t care if your daughter is 17, I don’t care about your daughter. In the face, you f ****** p **** .

Call handler: “Stay on the line, listen to me.”

Emma Greville: “Come quick.” Call handler: “We are. I have requested blue lights and sirens. Where is he now, the man who has headbutted your sister?”

Emma Greville: “I don’t know.”

Call handler: “He was there a second ago. Where has he gone?”

Emma Greville: “Yeah I don’t know. I think he might have done a runner. Ryan you have got to stay there.”

Call handler: Who, what’s he called?”

Emma Greville: “Ryan Giggs. Yeah but Ryan. Because you headbutted my sister.”

A male voice: “My phone there, she had it.”

Emma Greville: “No.”

A male voice: “No, she had my phone.”

Call handler: “What injuries has your sister got?”

Emma Greville: “He headbutted her lip I think. She has got blood.”

Call handler: “Ok so it’s a fat lip yeah? But she has got a burst lip.” Emma Greville: “Yes.”

Emma Greville: “Because she is in so much pain.”

Call handler: “Why is she in pain, what has happened to her?”
