WORST HOUSE ON THE STREET

Channel 4, 8pm

It’s a harsh label when neighbours brand yours the worst house on the street, however, sibling property developers Scarlette and Stuart Douglas are on hand to help people transform run-down houses into dream homes on a budget.

This time they are on Merseyside helping single mum Paula, below, who has bought her first home – a derelict and dated disaster, with running water flooding the ground floor. Paula has just £20k to do the work so Scarlette and Stuart face a big challenge.

The duo help Paula find an entire kitchen online for just £1,000 and secure a deal to turn the house’s ugly pebbledash front into a stylish exterior to stand out on the street. But the costs begin to mount.

SECRETS OF THE SPIES

ITV, 9pm

This fascinating series looks at what it takes to be a real life James Bond. Former spooks lift the lid on the qualities you need to be a spy with anecdotes about missions, deceptions, nearmisses and consequences.

This episode looks at the deadliest form of covert operation – the targeted elimination of the enemy. The most skilled secret agents leave little trace, or plant enough confusion around the crime scene that their involvement can never be proven.

It looks at modern cases such as the assassination attempt of Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, inset, in Salisbury in 2018 and the iconic crime story, which took place in 1978 on Waterloo Bridge, when Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov was spiked with a poisoned umbrella and died shortly afterwards.
