Before his training session, Jake put on his Playr vest as he laced up his boots. It’s essential kit for the pros these days! As soon as his studs touched the pitch, the stat-tracking device inside the vest fired up and activated. Jake then worked his socks off and tried to achieve the goals for the day’s session! Once the session was over, Jake took his vest off and handed it over to the sports science guys, who crunched the numbers on his performance. Now they can work out where he can improve!
“I think the 3km Jake covered was on the low side, but it wasn’t an intense session – players can cover 10-12km in a game. His top speed was quick, as was his sprint distance!” Sports scientists will then work with the performance coaches to plan sessions that work on weaknesses spotted in the stats!
