JOEY DUNLOP TRIBUTE

-

Pay homage to the King of the Roads as an incredible collection of Joey’s bikes and memorabilia is assembled in London

The stunning headline feature at this year’s Carole Nash MCN London Show is an unmissable tribute to the greatest real roads racer of all time – Joey Dunlop. MCN and the Dunlop family are bringing together, for the first time on the UK mainland, the machines and memorabilia that mark pivotal moments in Dunlop’s life. Affectionately known by fans the world over as ‘Yer maun’, Joey’s career saw him achieve a tally of 26 Isle of Man TT wins, 24 Ulster Grand Prix titles and 13 victories at the North West 200. His greatest ever win came in 2000, his 32nd year of racing, in what was to be his final TT appearance. His victory in the F1 race on a totally new, ill-handling Honda VTR1000 SP-1, which he had hardly ridden before, was the crowning glory of a long and glittering career. On his day, the remarkably humble and down-to-earth racer from Ballymoney in Northern Ireland was nothing short of breathtaking. This collection of bikes and memorabilia has never been seen outside of Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man and includes leathers, helmets, personal effects and key bikes. His 1988 Honda RC30, 1991 Harris Honda CBR600, 1999 Harris Honda CBR600, 1999 Honda RC45, 2000 Honda RS250 and 2000 Honda SP-1 will take centre stage. It’s very unlikely that such a collection will be assembled again so don’t miss your chance to see this remarkable exhibition at the MCN show.

New for the 2016 Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show is the arrival of a huge classic motorcycle auction, featuring 100 machines for sale, all hosted by world-famous auction house, Coys. A list of stunning entries include a 1925 Fongri 575 Sport Lusso, 1983 Ducati TT2, 1994 Honda RVF750R RC45, 1973 Laverda 3C, 1917 Wanderer 620, 1997 Ducati 916 SPS/JHP Corse Special, as well as some true icons, like a 1954 Vincent Rapide, 1956 Moto Guzzi GP Racer Evocation and a 1987 Cagiva GP500 Tipo C587 Grand Prix bike. The auction takes place at 2.30pm on Saturday, and all the bikes can be viewed for free, while auction entry, and bidding requires a catalogue purchase (£10 admits two).
