Yamaha have a hit on their hands here. If you are in the market for a modern retro with serious spirit, then look no further than this absolutely hysterical triple.

Packing the same 847cc inline triple as the highly popular MT-09, the XSR has three fuel maps, two-level traction control and ABS as standard. Add to these modern safety aids a storming

115bhp and 64.5ftlb of torque and it all adds up to a bike that will leave you giggling like a naughty boy after every ride. And it looks oddly cool, in a weird kind of Japanese neo-retro way.

In order to give the XSR a bit of extra retro flavour, Yamaha have swapped the MT’s modern front light for a round unit and then added an old-school seat, loads of brushed aluminium details and a cool LED rear light. Does it work? While the XSR isn’t retro in the classic sense of the word, it is certainly a head turner. And it doesn’t disappoint in the bends either.

Thanks to its modern chassis and adjustable suspension, the XSR900 is a hoot to ride. Far from a wobbly retro. Despite its MT-09 DNA, the XSR900 still has a character all of its own. This is a retro that is built to be enjoyed and ridden hard. Get it by the scruff of its neck, let that triple loose and you will discover a riding experience that is second to none. A simply wonderful retro-themed modern bike with a very tempting price tag.
