FASTEST BRITISH GP – EVER!

Newly resurfaced Silverstone circuit primed to see lap records tumble

-

Some of the greatest MotoGP battles have happened at the historic Silverstone circuit – and this year’s Go Pro British Grand Prix promises to deliver more of the same when MotoGP returns to British soil on the Bank Holiday weekend of August 24-26.

The British MotoGP festival feeling starts on Thursday with the now legendary Day of Champions charity event, where riders and fans get to mingle for a good cause. The excitement continues to build throughout Friday practice and qualifying on Saturday, towards race day on Sunday, August 26. And don’t forget it’s a Bank Holiday weekend, so you’ve got Monday to recover from the weekend’s racing.

Faster than ever!

The race weekend is packed with plenty to see and do both on and off track from rider appearances on stage Friday and Saturday, entertainment on stage throughout the weekend plus interactive experiences for youngsters and grown-ups alike. And don’t miss the opportunity to take part in the post-race track walk on Sunday. The resurfaced track was given the thumbs up by Cal Crutchlow last week when he became the first MotoGP rider to ride it, banging in some fast laps on a Honda RC213V-S. Afterwards, Cal said: “If I were to take a guess at the impact on lap times, I would think it’s going to be about 1.5 seconds a lap faster than before. That’s a massive amount of time to save each lap at MotoGP level.”

MCN and Silverstone have joined forces to get behind Cal and the best of British riders by offering race fans a top deal in the GO BRITS! fanstand, located at Becketts – one of the best viewing places on the circuit. But it’s filling up fast, so book your tickets now!
