Lowes discovers missing mojo

-

Sam Lowes says he’s got his Moto2 mojo back despite a difficult race on Sunday. Starting from the back of the grid after a fuel pump failure only minutes before the start, the Brit was able to cut his way through to a ninth place finish and regain some confidence in the process.

“I needed the result. I’m not going to get cocky and start saying that we gave away a podium, but a top five would have been possible if I hadn’t started from the back of the grid. I went to see a sports psychologist after Mugello, and things are working better for me now mentally. He levelled the boat a bit, reminded me that I’m in a good place, told me that

‘Even though I’ve had some issues things are now going well’

I’m saying the right things, and even though I’ve had some issues in the past year, things are now going well. He continued: “I’ve got some new parts coming this week to test, too. A new chassis plus some new forks are coming and in theory they should help me go in the direction that I want to go in. But I’m showing that, even though things are difficult, I’m working and trying to eliminate mistakes and I’m proud of my progress.”

Lowes will join most of the Moto2 paddock at Motorland Aragon this week for testing where he’ll have a chance to try out the new components. Kalex, KTM and Speed Up will also get a chance to test the 2019 Triumph Moto2 engines in their own chassis at the test.
