Indian sets gold standard
‘Elite’ tourer is height of luxury… but there are only two
Indian have unveiled an ‘ultrapremium’ version of their grand tourer called the Roadmaster Elite but you’ll have to be quick because there are only two coming to the UK. Based on the standard Roadmaster, itself a gargantuan monument to excess, the Elite takes things a step further with fancy trinkets such as billet aluminium footboards, leather armrests and a handpainted candy red paintscheme with 24-carat gold leaf. If ever there was a bike fit for a king, it’s this. As well as all the fancy accessories, the Roadmaster Elite has some neat additions including an upgraded 600-watt Powerband Audio Plus system. With speakers in the fairing, topbox and panniers, the system is a whopping 50% louder than the standard Roadmaster. The system also features a nineband dynamic equalizer that helps it compensate for road, wind and engine noise.

Just like the standard model, the Elite is powered by the 1811cc Thunder Stroke 111 engine that puts out a mind-boggling 111ftlb of torque. It also has three riding modes, rear cylinder deactivation (to keep you cool in traffic) plus Indian’s latest infotainment as well as all the usual gadgets including heated seats, power-adjustable windscreen, keyless ignition and remote central locking. All this comes at a cost, however, with an RRP of £33,899 but with only two coming to the UK you’d be unlucky to ever bump into another one.
