If another firm bought Norton would you be tempted to buy a bike?

-

I could have played a part myself. My current project, albeit on a VFR800, is installing two-tooth lower cam sprockets. I want crazy top-end stroker power! When my shortened cam chains arrive, I’ll be straight down the dyno! Keep up the good work. Seize the moment! Tim Rayner, email

Island limit is bad news

The only place in the British Isles where you can open up your bike / car, the Isle of Man has introduced an all-island speed limit of 40mph. There’s gonna be some highly polished machines on our roads when this virus eventually blows over. Keep printing girls and boys and keep us sane! Chris Ditchfield, email

Just leave it parked

After reading four sensible letters about isolation during the pandemic, I came across one by Nigel Savil, ‘Still safe to go solo’. I couldn’t believe this. Nigel, you might be the best rider in the world but riding carries a risk. If you have an accident, possibly no fault of your own you could be injured and need hospital treatment. The NHS has better things to do at the moment. Riding a bike is not exercise right now, it’s an indulgence. Like you, I would love to go for a ride on my motorcycle, but I won’t until we’re all in the clear. Adrian Oldfield, email

DR Big's big adventure

Thought you’d like this picture in light of your fantastic DR Big and V-Strom test (MCN, April 1). The DR Big belongs to a mate who has just refurbed it and it sounds awesome with its Leo Vinci underseat pipes. It’s so comfy and smooth, compared to my 2010 KTM 990 Adventure, which is a completely different animal. We are itching to get back on the road. Chris, email

Don't nanny me

Social distancing has been put in place to make a nasty situation better. What I don’t need is MCN telling me to stay in. I’ve been riding for 40 years safely and will continue to do so, while using the social distancing code. Alan Gee, Stockport

Havier's a proper gent

I enjoyed reading the Best of British on Havier Beltran (MCN, April 1). Thanks to Lings Honda it has been my pleasure to have met Havier on several occasions whilst a guest in Honda Racing’s Hospitality tent at Snetterton. He is an absolute gentlemen who takes a great deal of time and interest in showing his guests around their garage prior to joining them for lunch. Nothing is too much for Havier. Give us more Iceman!

Wow, what a fantastic story this is (The Iceman Cometh, MCN April 1) but why, oh why, was it such a short article? This man is a legend/ nutter and his adventure would have been better told over a couple of (at least) editions. I for one would love to read about it. Paul Fearon, email

Charge is no surprise

I am not surprised by the move by Hackney Council to consider plans to charge for bike parking (MCN, March 25). Westminster Council have been charging a £1 a day for years. £4 a day is a bit steep though. Ashley Hunt, email

#stayathomeGP fun

I rather enjoyed the virtual MotoGP, yes we would prefer the real thing, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon. It was a good bit of fun, let’s have more of it. Phil Hadley, email

Loving the oldies

Really enjoyed the comparison to old and new Suzuki (MCN, April 1). Can we have more of this please? It’s always nice to see how far we’ve come - good or bad - in bike tech. Dan White, email
