Superbike school is back

California Superbike School returns with Keith Code’s blessing

-

The UK arm of the California Superbike School is set to return this year after being revived by two of its coaches. The school ceased activities last year after its holding company ran into financial difficulties but now a new operation has risen from the ashes and will be delivering training soon.

The CSS is now run by Global Motorcycle Events, which has been set up by Gary Adshead (Chief Riding Coach) and Martin Plunkett (Deputy Chief Riding Coach) who have over 30 years of CSS coaching between them. “As soon as the old company stopped we set about trying to get something going,” says Plunkett. “We’ve talked it all through with Keith Code (the US-based founder of CSS) and he’s given us his blessing. “Even though we’re brand new, we’ve got 40 years of heritage here, so we’ll still be working with Ducati UK, Pirelli, Dainese and AGV.”

For now, CSS have had to put a stop on upcoming dates due to coronavirus but the delay has given them more time to plan for the future.

“As well as the usual one-day schools people will know, we’re also going to be bringing back weekend dates, so it’s easier for people to join us,” adds Plunkett. “We’re also going to be bringing back the two-day training camps as well as our overseas trips, so people don’t have to stop riding in the winter.

“We’ve continued our partnership with Ducati, so the rentals remain and we’re looking to grow that fleet as we get more established to include the new Panigale V4S, the V2 and the Streetfighter V4.”

A typical CSS day will involve a mixture of on-track action, as well as off-track coaching, which has been adapted to comply with social distancing. There will be a range of levels available depending on your experience at the three tracks: Bedford Autodrome, Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch. Prices for a day vary but hover around £400.
