The best-looking Kawasaki of all time? Got to be up there. Other 750s may have been lighter and faster, but the 7R’s steadfast handling, bullish feel and imposing looks made it a UK favourite. There are plenty about, and £2500 gets a good bike; find a bit more cash and there are still a few minty, low-mile, all-original bikes like this one.
Buyer beware
Green and purple is the paint scheme that everyone wants. But you should always pick a bike based on condition rather than colour, miles or age. This is because the Kawasaki’s finish wasn’t great and won’t have improved over 20-odd years. The stiff-when-new suspension gets sloppy with big miles, paint comes off the chassis, the front brakes need loving to keep them working properly, and exhausts rust. Motors are strong, but check for smoke and rattles.
