COVID-19 SPIKE IN ILLEGAL RIDING

“This is an annual issue with peaks and troughs,” explained Superintendent Kev Mulligan. “We usually see spikes in summer while the schools are on holiday and Christmas because people receive these sorts of bikes as presents so it has a seasonality, and police across the UK never lose sight of it. The pandemic meant an extended period of time when the people who engage in this activity were given free rein in empty public spaces and at the same time there have been lots of residents at home to see it happening, film it and report it.”
