‘I look forward to a commute’

Leon James’ Super Soco CPx has turned his ride to work into an electric experience

-

“I work in Birmingham’s city centre but live around 10 miles away in the suburbs and the traffic can be horrific on my commute, even more so now the A34 is having major roadworks in preparation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. I used to commute by diesel car but in September I bought a Super Soco CPx, which I ride on an L-plate after taking a CBT test, which was £120 and easy despite never having ridden a bike before. “The Soco is fantastic in traffic and has all the speed and power I need for the A-road sections of my commute, it will happily cruise at 50mph (60mph downhill) and has plenty of range in one battery. I can complete the 20-mile round trip and have enough left to make it to work if I forget to charge it up overnight. In fact, the battery is so quick and easy to remove I am starting to charge it for free at work to save money! “I knew the decision to swap to the Soco would be a game changer for me and it has been. Birmingham is introducing an £8 a day ‘Clean Air Zone’ charge, which would have cost me £1600 a year if I’d used the diesel, and my commute now takes 20 minutes not up to an hour and isn’t altered by traffic. I can pick my kid up from nursery at a specific time without the worry of being caught in a traffic jam and save money while I ride.

“I honestly look forward to going to work as it means

I can ride the Soco. My commute is now stress-free, well mainly, it still involves going through Birmingham...”
