‘Here’s to a year of track action’

No TT 2021 but the hunt is on for a Kawasaki 750 for the Classic

- McPINT

We’ll what a year 2020 has been, the world shut down and we were all scratching our heads, but then they got the racing going and the job was on fire! In the end I got to race the Ducati, do some trackdays and some talk shows so we just about got away with it. While it still hurts that we’re not having a TT in 2021, there’s lots going on in terms of plans for when it comes back in 2022. So in Supersport there’ll be different manufacturers and different bikes

which will mix classes up a bit We could see a bit more focus on Superstock too, which makes sense. They look spectacular, they do 133, 134mph laps and are dead reliable. Plus you could ride the same bike in Superstock, Superbike and the Senior. They are talking about changing the schedule and if they do they’ll need to be a bit careful. It’s alright sitting in the control tower but wrestling a bike round the TT course isn’t easy and 11 laps is over 400 miles… flat out! But one thing that is really good about the TT is that the organisers speak to the riders. They don’t just say ‘this is what we’re doing, like it or lump it’.

I’m still hoping the NW200 will happen. They should do it after Knockhill BSB so that everyone is that much closer to the ferry. It’s the same for the Classic TT and my Kawasaki team boss is already looking for a bike he can start prepping for me. So hopefully it’ll be a year racing the Ducati Cup, maybe a couple of Scarboroughs, NW200 and hopefully Macau. I want as many things to look forward to as possible! Here’s to 2021!
