New Superveloce S revealed
New S-model joins host of upgrades to MV Agusta’s retro
MV have updated their runaway success retro sportsbike with fresh tech and a top-of-the range S model.
At the heart of both models is MV’s 145bhp 798cc triple with its counter-rotatiing crank. For 2021 MV have made efficiency the name of the game with diamond-like coatings as well as new tappets and titanium valve guides. The exhaust has had a rethink while new injectors were fitted, which together give a healthy midrange boost. MV have also rewritten some of the electronic wizardry, which they say improves throttle response. Elsewhere, they have updated the clutch for easier use and quieter running. The biggest changes have come in the electronics. MV have introduced an IMU, while also integrating ABS from Continental. This means safety aids including cornering ABS, lean sensitive traction control and revamped front lift control, which MV say enables you “to execute a controlled wheelie instead of preventing it entirely”. Bravo MV. The Superveloce now also comes with launch control and there’s a new quickshifter/ autoblipper. This whole lot is navigated through the new 5.5in colour TFT, which can be paired with a smartphone. There have been a couple of updates in the handling department too with tweaks to the frame and forks.
The S takes all these updates and adds fancy accessories. The cast wheels are replaced with lightweight spoked options, while the brown Alcantara seat makes it even more of a 70s throw-back. What’s more the S is available with a nifty racing kit that has a single seat fairing and Arrow exhaust with accompanying remapped ECU.
‘The kit lets you pull a controlled wheelie…’
