The winner of MCN’s competition to win over £3000-worth of rider training is Martin Brennan from Aylesbury. Over the next six weeks, the 33-yearold will complete Rapid Training’s eight-day Bikemaster course.

The course training is split into two distinct halves: two days on track and six days of one-to-one coaching on road with an elite police-trained rider. “It was a bit of a shock to get the call saying I’ve won,” says Martin, who’s been reading MCN since he passed his test two years ago. He owns a Triumph Street Triple and more recently bought a Tiger 800 for commuting. “What with Covid restrictions, I haven’t ridden either bike that much, so I’m looking forward to getting a lot more confident in the corners. I’m also relishing the chance to improve my riding generally, so I feel I can handle any situation.”

Rapid Training’s Bikemaster course should provide the steep learning curve Martin’s after, as it’s structured to take riders of any level and experience and systematically improve all aspects of their riding. Unlike many courses that focus purely on roadcraft, the two days on track during the Bikemaster course allow riders to hone machine control techniques it would be impossible to practice safely on the road, and the course is regarded as the highest level of training available to civilians. “I’m very, very excited,” says Martin. “I can’t wait to get started.”
