Final race fury for Jackson
Tangle with TazMac wrecks podium bid
Lee Jackson’s hopes of a podium were dashed in the final race of the weekend when he crashed out following contact with Tarran Mackenzie. The latter had gone down the inside of the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki at turn one, however Jackson wasn’t going to give up the position easy. Jackson clipped Mackenzie’s left foot and consequently went down, hands in the air, and visibly frustrated. Mackenzie was hit with a threesecond penalty for his part in the incident, costing him a podium as well, and the Jackson camp was left fuming. Given the narrow margins in BSB, incidents like this lead to differing opinions – however, Jackson shared his thoughts on Twitter, commenting on video footage of the collision.
“The fact there was a gap at the apex of the corner gives a clear indication there was room for Taz to carry on turning his bike, but instead he came across towards me on the exit,” Jackson complained.
It’s an unfortunate end to another strong weekend for Jackson, who again has come agonisingly close to a first podium of the year. He now has seven top sixes from the last 12 races, including three fourth places, and continues to be the ‘nearly man’ when it comes to the podium.
‘There was room for Taz to carry on turning’
He has the talent, there’s no doubt about that. Jackson is fast, strong at overtaking, and is pushing his Kawasaki to the limit week in, week out. Of course, bad luck plays its part. Let’s not forget, crashing out on Danny Buchan’s fluids at Snetterton and a mechanical at Silverstone cost him a Showdown spot.
