Ride to the seaside

Enjoy this Suffolk stunner

-

What Suffolk lacks in height variation, it more than makes up for in quirky villages and seaside views. Starting at Royston, your first big decision is whether to simply stop at the Imperial War museum at Duxford. Should you resist, and this route is worth sacrificing a day looking at aeroplanes for, cross over the M11 and head into rural Suffolk. Picking up the small A-roads between Sawston and Sudbury, you twist your way through a selection of smaller villages with quite odd names before taking a bit of a detour up the A134 and cutting back down the A1141. This section is probably the best on the route and has some lovely views as well as fun roads to ride. Once you have circumnavigated Ipswich it is onto the A1152 and time to head towards Aldeburgh. coast they head towards Hunstanton, Cromer or Great Yarmouth, but the south side is just as good and Aldeburgh is the jewel. Its shingle beach is a delight to stroll on and the area is bursting with wildlife.
