Are Honda to Q blame for my sidestand issues?

-

I have recently bought a Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Manual and have reported to Honda UK that I feel the sidestand does not allow the bike to rest at a secure angle while parked. My bike recently had a slow puncture unbeknown to me, and on my return to the bike I found it on its side with £2000 worth of damage. I have chatted with other owners and quite a few have had issues with the sidestand. Any help or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Jon Reid, email

I’m sorry to hear about this, it must have been a shock for you when you returned to your bike. However, I can see Honda arguing that it was only the slow puncture that allowed the bike to settle down so much that it toppled over and the stand is functional (if marginal) in normal use. Getting together with other owners to make a ‘class action’ type approach might bear fruit, but I have to say it’s a long-shot.
