Which are the Q best tyres for dry-time riding?

-

I’m coming up to changing the tyres on my 2010 Yamaha R1. I ride two-up all the time and try to make them dry miles. What are the best tyres at the moment for fast road riding? Russ Woodhead, Lincoln

If it’s high levels of dry grip you’re looking for, you’ll really like Michelin’s new Power RS. I’ve just fitted a set on my bike and I’m very impressed by the increase in confidence I feel compared to my previous tyres when pressing on. They’re too new for me to comment on tread life but Michelin are claiming similar durability to the Power RS’s predecessor, the Pilot Power 3, which I would say gave average miles for a tyre in this category. Other tyres worth considering are Metzeler’s Sportec M7RR, Pirelli’s Diablo Rosso III and the Bridgestone Battlax S21, but personally speaking I think they all trail the Power RS in dry road performance.
