‘Road racing needs Guy more than he needs it’

I’m pleased that Guy’s stopped – he’s unlike any other pro racer. To compete at the top level of road racing requires huge commitment, dedication and, as some top riders admit, a slight disregard of your own personal safety. And as Guy says, “I’ve been warned enough.” He doesn’t need to race any more – he’s made his money in other ways. He can have a life doing the projects he enjoys without all the hassle that comes with being besieged in a race paddock as Britain’s bestknown and most interesting motorcyclist. Whatever he does, we should all wish him well.”
