Triumph awarded top marks for its lovely big Triple

- Geoff and Paul Turner, Isle of Man and Barcelona

Here’s our collection of 2003, 2010 and 2013 Speed Triple SEs with my father, me and my son in the appropriate order. My father and I were curious to test ride the new 765 and the latest Speed Triple. Having ridden so many incarnations of the 885/955/1050 engine we both expected the latest to be one step too far for the “meat & potato power” (as Michael Neeves fondly once described it). How wrong we were. We couldn’t believe the new Speed’s smooth spread and willingness to rev. The lads at Hinckley have worked some magic to reduce internal inertia. There’s life in the old dog yet and while we both enjoyed the 765 we agreed the new Speed is the bike to go for. Thanks to Jason Griffith the Isle of Man Triumph dealer (and former TT racer) for lending us both bikes.
