‘The DCT box is bloody brilliant!’
Guy spent a lot of time at Cadwell with two of his bikes – his turbo Suzuki GSX-R1100-based Martek which he raced at Pikes Peak and his Honda Africa Twin DCT, a perk of being a factory Honda rider. “The Africa Twin is my road bike. It’s mega. I’ve still got a Triumph Tiger 800, though. They gave me some spare wheels for it and said to race it on the beach. So, every other weekend in the winter I pay £30 entry and get five races. Perfect. “The Africa Twin I use on the road a lot – riding to work – and I’ve taken it on the track at Spa as well as today. It’s even the one with the DCT gearbox, which as long as you put it in manual mode is good on track, too. “I’ve bought another Rob North Triple [an early 1970s custom-framed racer with a BSA Rocket 3 engine]. I already have one, which turned into my Wall of Death bike, but I didn’t want to change it back – if I’d touched it, it wouldn’t be a Wall of Death bike any more. It’s as it came off the wall. I’m going to race it at CRMC. I haven’t done that for years, just mucking about, enjoying my bike riding.”
