Schwantz rates Rins: ‘He just needs time’
Kevin Schwantz might have given Andrea Iannone a severe tonguelashing, but he rates Alex Rins and can see his potential. Missing a massive chunk of the season so far due to various injuries, the youngest rider on the grid has only started four of the season’s nine races – but the veteran American is hoping that the summer break will give him the chance to start afresh. “You can’t blame Alex too much because he’s a rookie, he doesn’t know much, and he’s been injured and is a little bit fragile – he isn’t that confident yet. I hope the summer break will give him a chance to get fit and get his confidence back, and maybe he’ll be a bit more like Maverick was at the start. I don’t want Alex to be Maverick – I want him to be Alex – but I want him to be fit and I want to see his true potential, because we haven’t seen it yet.”
