Brivio: ‘He can’t push’

-

Suzuki team boss Davide Brivio says Iannone and the team just need more time to get the bike and the rider working better together. “The situation is more difficult than we expected, and with Andrea we’re still working on both sides. As a factory and as a team, we’re trying to make the bike suitable for his style, and on the other side he’s trying to adapt himself to the Suzuki. “Coming from a different bike, it’s not an easy or quick job. We both need time, especially Andrea, because he has to acquire a different riding style. I’m sure that when he completes this job we’ll get what we expected – but we need more time.” But the Italian team boss was also quick to agree with Schwantz’s estimation that Iannone is struggling with his motivation, too. “He’s struggling to ride the bike, but when you’re not 100% confident you can’t push, and if you can’t push you can’t get the results. Then you’re not happy, and everything revolves around that for a rider. That’s why we’re working to get his confidence back, and I think once we get there the jump will be come quickly. “We are continuing to work on the bike during the summer break, and the engineers in Japan are working hard. We’ve tried some chassis improvements and some different geometry. We’re expecting something new to test later this year, most likely for the last four or five overseas races.”
