VERDICT
It might be equipped with useful, top quality extras, but the Raid Edition suffers the same problem Super Ténérés have always had: it’s pricey, lacks performance and is a bit old fashioned.
But cost aside, the Yamaha isn’t trying to compete with the latest and greatest anymore. It’s moved into being the more relaxed do-anything, go-anywhere, one-size-fits-all machine, for those who don’t feel the need to grind-out Nick Sanders’ level of mileages. It’s easy to manage, packed with character, oozes oldschool, bulletproof Yamaha quality and the Dakar-inspired add-ons will make long touring trips a breeze.
