Sofuoglu waves goodbye
Kenan Sofuoglu couldn’t stop himself but race one more time before hanging up his helmet. Or so we thought. He achieved a 101st front row start in a rainaffected qualifying session, only to announce on the grid that he would pull in at the end of the warm-up lap. It transpired he had promises to keep and wouldn’t risk further life-threatening injuries and cited a tribute to his mother on mother’s day as the reason he didn’t race. A full feature on the life and career of the 33-year-old Turkish superstar will follow next week. Sunday’s World Supersport race was won by Jules Cluzel while Randy Krummenacher snatched back the championship lead.
