“It was a Friday and I’d just finished my 14-hour night shift and had to go into town for something. I was in my one-piece leathers and stupidly decided to overtake two cars shortly before my exit, meaning I was then coming up to it way too fast. I tipped it in without preparing for it and the back wheel stepped out and hit the kerb. The bike slid down the road at between 50 to 60mph. Luckily it crashed really well! The back wheel shattered, but other than that it was pretty much just fairing damage and the pegs. I took the opportunity after the accident to upgrade a few bits. The initial job was just getting the bike working, though. I thought I would change the pegs for rearsets as I had to replace them anyway. I also changed the clutch and brake lever for shorty blue ones.”
