Mat’s experience has made him think about security. These are his conclusions:

1. Cover it up. “I’m getting a cover. You don’t want your bike to be the one in the lineup that catches the eye.”

2. Lock it up. “I’ve always used a disc lock, but a proper lock and chain, makes it harder for the thieves. I’ve just bought the best one I could afford.”

3. Consider your options. “Do you really need that super-desirable sportsbike? A smaller commuter bike may be better in town and less desirable to professional thieves.”
