The M40 is refreshingly clear and I allow the SX to pressurise as much air into its aluminium lung as it can, making cars reverse towards us as the 18-mile section vanishes. The wind blast is stronger than ideal, but it keeps the weight off your wrists and is turbulance-free. There’s been no hint of bum, knee or wrist ache yet as the anticipation of Cotswolds roads builds.
