‘Great ride, shame about the sheep’

Andy Knowles loves taking his ER5 on this stunner

-

There’s nothing better than slinging a leg over your trusty stead and blowing away the cobwebs after work. This is the ride Andy Knowles uses to clear his mind after a day in the office on his beloved, 20-year-old Kawasaki ER5. He said: “The first leg of the route is on the A170 but once you turn off at Wrelton the roads get narrower and the views more scenic as you head towards Rosedale. The next section towards Egton Bridge is my favourite part. It’s a fairly narrow road with amazing views and a few nice bends. Watch out for sheep though.

“Heading to Grosmont, the road widens a bit and the sheep are back behind fences. If you go through there in the summer you’ll probably see a steam train at the station. On the way to Sleights, the road has a few nice twists and turns. Turn left then an immediate right to hit the narrow roads through Ugglebarnby before settling down on the B1416 until you turn on to the A171 back to Scarborough, finishing at Oasis Cafe.”
