Triumph’s first foray into the supersport 600 class was somewhat let down by the dodgy fuelling of the TT600 that preceded the Daytona 600. Shame, because the bike was pretty good in most other areas. The 2003 Daytona 600 righted the wrongs of its predecessor. It must have been better than alright because Bruce Anstey won a Junior TT on one in 2003. Triumph sortied the fuelling out with a decent Keihin system and modernised the styling over the TT600.

Buyer beware

While the ride is pretty decent, the finish is a little inadequate in places and will show up on high-mileage bikes, or ones that have been ridden through the winter by a less-than-fastidious owner. Look for corrosion and be concerned if the brakes feel poor because they were one of its strong points. Regulator rectifiers and alternator stators have also been known to give problems, quite often in tandem which is an unpleasant expense on a relatively cheap bike. Aftermarket reg-recs and a professional re-wind on the stator are often better than new OE items, but you want to be knocking money off if you pick this up on a used bike.
