Shane Byrne on long road to recovery
Having broken his neck, back, sternum and most of his ribs in his Snetterton testing crash, Shane Byrne’s fitness and resolve have been pushed to the limit. The 41-year-old was making strong progress having been released from hospital last week, but was readmitted on Sunday after having what wife Petra described as a “rough morning”. Speaking to MCN last week, Byrne said: “We’ll see how the next three months go. It won’t be easy. I have to have a frame on my neck for three months and then we can look to see how my neck moves and see whether I can get back on a bike. There is a long road ahead but we’ve made some important steps.”
