1st Peter Hickman Smiths BMW
Peter Hickman took an emphatic victory after blasting to the first ever 135mph lap of the Mountain Course to get the better of Dean Harrison on the final lap.
Harrison again took an early lead, though lap speeds were slowed with waved yellows at Barregarrow. It also became apparent early on that Superbike winner Michael Dunlop wouldn’t be in the mix as he began to drop time from the opening lap.
That left Peter Hickman as Harrison’s only serious opponent with the Smiths BMW rider eating into Harrison’s lead on every lap over the Mountain, leaving just 1.9 seconds between them heading into the final lap.
With Harrison stronger in the early sectors, Hickman knew he’d have to pull out all the stops over the Mountain to win the race – and he duly shattered the record once again to win with a 135.452mph final lap. Conor Cummins completed the podium ahead of a desolate Michael Dunlop, with Norton’s Josh Brookes rounding out the top five.
