Ev­ery­one has their own pre-lift rit­ual, but one thing you see a lot of peo­ple do­ing is stamp­ing both feet into the ground while hold­ing the bar be­fore they com­plete their pre-lift set-up. The the­ory is that it gets your mus­cles primed to at­tack the move – but it only works if you feel a solid con­tact. Do it in spongy train­ers and you lose the ben­e­fit en­tirely.
