Al­most one-third of in­juries re­ported by US col­lege ath­letes are “overuse” in­juries caused by re­peat­edly do­ing the same ex­er­cises, ac­cord­ing to Michi­gan State Univer­sity. If you’re a run­ner, re­place some ses­sions with swim­ming or cycling, and if you’re a lifter then fac­tor in lighter “de­load” weeks to give your mus­cles and joints more re­cov­ery time.
