GOING NATIVE
In pursuit of a calmer mind, our writer trials Wim Hof’s ice-cold showers to chart the dizzy highs and chilly lows
DAY 1
Exposure: 20 seconds Hands are barely prehensile. Dropped the shampoo. Shaking like a dog. Mood: Traumatised.
DAY 3
Exposure: 50 seconds I employ meditative breathing. It helps. Mood: Somewhat elated.
DAY 6
Exposure: 60 seconds I’m warming to this now. More interesting is the energy and elation post shower. Mood: I basically skip to work.
DAY 10
Exposure 90 seconds I go for a record for the last day and feel totally calm in the water. Mood: Hooked.
