This Hungarian folk duo have returned reinvigorated with the inclusion of Mihály Szabo on vocals, in duet with multi-instrumentalist/ singer Ágnes Toth. Szabo’s masculine timbre allows new avenues of expression within TMATNS’s gossamer web of folklore and instrumental delicacy. The opening title track provides a gateway into their realm as echoing chants contrast with airy folk melodies and nature sounds, akin to being lost in the wilderness on a moonlit night. Szabo’s gruff bellow provides newfound dark contrast with Toth’s celestial airiness on Kaputlan Kapukon Át, a background texture that, on Égi Messzeségek, holds sway, its raw exhortation echoing through chasms of instrumental intrigue that prove an enriching and escapist experience. ■■■■■■■⁍⁍⁍
