MORA PROKAZA
By Chance SEASON OF MIST
Belarusian black metal boffins throw caution to the wind
By Chance is 2020’s oddest extreme album. With two excellent, albeit by-thenumbers records under their belt, Mora Prokaza take the bare bones of their genre – a few blastbeats here, raspy screams and spooky keys there – and blindly throw darts at nine songs. Why does I’m Not Yours sound like Chthonic soundtracking a profoundly irritating Spaghetti Western? Dunno. Who told vocalist Farmakon that scatting over black metal and, er, trap is a great idea? Haven’t the foggiest. Why does it all sound like it was arranged by an actual foetus? By Chance offers no answers. Experimentation should be applauded, but nobody gets a gold star for shitting upside down.
