Is prefab the answer to our housing crisis?
■ Post-World War II, the housing crisis was met by the state building prefab houses. These were basic but comfortable, relatively cheap and quick to put up, and offered at very low rent.
I wonder why something similar isn’t done today to alleviate the housing shortage and give families facing eviction a chance to get back on their feet. As one of your contributors mentioned, there are vast empty industrial units that could be removed and small prefab communities built in their place.
