WRITTEN IN BLOOD
JOHNNY DEPP scrawled ‘ goodbye’ to Amber Heard on a mirror using blood from his severed finger, the High Court was told yesterday.
It allegedly happened following a blazing row between the pair over their post-nuptial agreement just weeks after their wedding.
On the third day of his libel action against NGN, publishers of The Sun, and the newspaper’s executive editor Dan Wootton, Pirates Of The Caribbean star Depp, 57, dubbed his ex-wife’s claims of a drug-fuelled three-day ordeal of assaults as ‘pedestrian fiction’. He said 14 allegations of violence the 34-year-old Aquaman actress made against him were part of a strategy to paint him lipstick on the wall, a lampshade and the mirror. They included ‘Call Carly Simon, she said it better, babe’ in reference to singer’s hit song You’re So Vain.
Depp had also urinated on the doorstep and there was a smashed TV and window. Heard told their security guard he had taken ten ecstasy tablets.
The Sun’s lawyer, Sasha Wass QC, accused Depp of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol but he said: ‘I knew exactly what I was doing.’
He added: ‘I realised that the top of my finger was missing and pouring blood profusely, and the bones was sticking out. I believe that I went into some kind of breakdown.’
Explaining the rampage further, he said: ‘I was convinced it was never going to get any better, only worse – and worse was death. So this (the painting) is a message to her... “Good luck and be careful at the top”, in reference to her ambition to be a big star.’
The hearing in London continues.
