Another post-lockdown milestone has been reached with the news that this pop-tastic show about the six wives of Henry VIII will become the first musical to reopen in the West End. One of the north of England’s great venues reopens for live performances next month with a short season of productions celebrating the human voice, including revivals of Samuel Beckett monologue Krapp’s Last Tape and one-woman opera La Voix Humaine, alongside new commission Orpheus in the Record Store. This long-running interactive production of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel is returning with a twist to a new space in London’s Mayfair. It is now set at an art deco masquerade ball and audience members will be expected to wear Covid-appropriate face coverings – the glitzier the better.
