What’s the story on masks tirade, Noel?

-

■ Singer Noel Gallagher is refusing to follow government rules and wear a face mask, saying, ‘I think it’s a p***take’, and that if he gets the virus ‘it’s on me’ (Metro, Thu).

The virus does not show itself initially, so if you catch it you can give it to others. Without a mask the risk is higher to those around you. This is not about what you want, it’s what is needed for the nation. Christine Smith, St Austell

■ Frankly, I couldn’t care less whether Gallagher gets Covid-19 and is never able to sing, or indeed speak, again but he is typical of the ignorant or arrogant, who don’t – or won’t – understand that the main point of wearing a mask is not to stop you from catching Covid but to stop infected people with no symptoms passing it to others. Brian, Hampshire

■ When I see people without masks, I don’t think they are protesting, I pity them and think, ‘Those poor people, they must be exempt due to a medical condition.’ I wonder what ‘medical condition’ Noel has? Fred, Hants

■ Selfishness like Gallagher’s helps this pandemic spread. Davy Clark, via email

■ So, diddums, it’s ‘on you’ if you catch Covid, is it? And when you get sick you’ll expect the best care and subsequently expose all the healthcare workers and their families to this virus. Selfabsorbed narcissist. Jackie, London

■ If ever there was a repetitive nonmask wearer deserving of a £3,200 fine it is without doubt Noel Gallagher. Paul Cooper, Herts

■ Noel Gallagher says ‘too many f***ing liberties’ are being taken. You f***ing ignorant t**t. Grow up. Terry K, Dunstable

■ Gallagher obviously doesn’t care about the rest of humanity. Dave Marutiak, via email

■ I’m sure hospital staff can’t wait to hear Gallagher’s woefully stupid, and offensive to anyone who has lost a loved one, opinion on masks. Medhi, Newton Heath
