Who would have thought we might want testing, eh?

■ So Baroness Dido Harding, chief executive of the government’s Covid testing programme, says no-one could have predicted the demand for it would be so high (Metro, Fri)?

Everyone has been placed at fever pitch with this blasted disease and made to feel as if it has our very civilisation hanging in the balance. We have been told you don’t even need to have symptoms to have the virus. So why on earth would people not be flocking to the test centres? Harry, London

■ With the number of people testing positive for coronavirus in England soaring by 75 per cent (Metro, Fri), shouldn’t we consider banning children from pubs and restaurants? Paul, London

■ Dave couldn’t have put it any better when he says that young people should not be blamed for being reluctant to change their behaviour under lockdown (MetroTalk, Fri).

Most youngsters understand the danger of Covid-19 and its transmission, however, we are facing missing out on a crucial part of our lives.

I understand the concern of the elderly who fear they are being placed at greater risk because of the actions of some young people but they’ve lived all those years. Most of them have a husband or wife and kids, have finished their studies, and got their work achievements. Youth only comes once. Early-30s Woman, Manchester

■ Everyone has to follow the health guidelines. Not a large percentage, not most – everyone. If we had already, we wouldn’t be facing more suffering and deaths and another lockdown. It is – or, it was – just a matter of caring for each other and society (for a limited time). Jen, Newcastle

■ When going through Canning Town station in London on Wednesday, I saw police officers inside the barriers doing nothing as I observed at least ten people coming out not wearing masks.

This is another reason why the virus will not go away. The rules have to be enforced to stop this. James, Stratford

■ Everyone seems to be moaning about their ‘liberties’ being impinged with not a care for others.

In the meantime, prime minister Boris Johnson is sending out threats and making new restrictions, none of which are being enforced on public transport. Peter, London
