Virtually Victoria’s fashion show
HOW BRAND BECKHAM IS FIGHTING BACK WITH AN ONLINE CATWALK
QUESTION: How many hair stylists does it take to do one ponytail? Answer: Three. If your name is Victoria Beckham.
The former ‘2 Become 1’ Spice Girl struggled to maintain social distancing when she drafted in a trio of hairdressers as she prepared for her London Fashion Week virtual show.
After reportedly contracting Covid-19 earlier in the year, Victoria opted not to wear a mask as the stylists bustled around her at rehearsals for her presentation. Clad in Tiffany & Co jewellery she took a selfie of her pre-show preen which she posted on Instagram, joking: ‘It’s quite an intense process having a ponytail, isn’t it?’
The glitz and glamour of fashion week is a long way from the doom and gloom that has beset Victoria’s clothing empire in recent times. Last month, she made around 20 staff redundant – one fifth of her workforce – after originally furloughing 30 in March.
Overall, the British fashion industry has lost some 25 per cent in revenue due to the knock-on effects of coronavirus. It is hoping fashion week will deliver a desperately-needed boost.
Teasing her new collection, the former Posh Spice – said to be worth in excess of £300million – posed in a colourful striped jumper tucked into high-waisted denim flairs. Her inspiration for the collection is thought to be Mick Jagger, the 1970s – and the styles worn by Nicola Peltz and Mia Regan, the girlfriends of her sons Brooklyn and Romeo.
Over the weekend, Victoria shared a photo of a model in a sheer top. The image flirted with Instagram’s strict ‘no nipples’ policy and brought a flurry of comments. One fan posted: ‘If a guy was wearing the same outfit it wouldn’t be an issue... why is it different for a girl?’ Eldest son Brooklyn, 21, appeared to approve. He reposted the shot, saying: ‘Good luck mum love u.’
