LILY’S SELLING UP FOR MANY HAPPY RETURNS

NEWLYWED STAR’S BIRTHDAY WISHES TO FUND NEW ALBUM

-

LILY ALLEN banked ‘quite a lot of money’ when she resorted to flogging recorded birthday messages – and her clothes – in a bid to pay for her music comeback. The newlywed pop star was forced to take drastic action as she is no longer signed to a major record label.

Having recently staged a budget wedding to US actor David Harbour at a Las Vegas chapel, where they celebrated by eating burgers in a car park, Lily had No Shame in sharing her money-making strategy.

The 35-year-old urged followers to fund her comeback, via app Cameo, and for £83-a-pop promised to ‘send messages, birthday wishes... I’ll ‘do whatever it is that you want me to do’.

She went on: ‘I want to start reading music again. It is the first time in my career I am putting an album out not on a major label. I will be using these funds to finance my musical output. So ask me to do some dumb s***. Your ur wish is my command and hopefully you’ll ll get some new music soon.’

And her plan n seems to have worked.

‘The video requests are going quite well. I earned quite a lot of money in just 24 hours’ she told fans at the weekend.

Lily also sold her designer clobber on pre-loved shopping app Depop.

Since returning from her budget nuptials, she has posted pictures of a music studio at home that has kept her busy during lockdown. And it looks like she is serious about going it alone for more chart success. Her last record, No Shame, peaked at No.8 when she was signed to her old record label Parlophone two years ago.

But it was reported last year she was axed over flagging sales. However, Lily defended her music on Twitter, insisting the record was ‘pretty good’. Lily, who has two daughters with first husband Sam Cooper, stunned fans earlier this month when she wed Stranger Things star Harbour, 45, in a ceremony led by an Elvis Presley impersonator. Her new fella reportedly popped the question when the pair were quarantining together back in May.
