HE PLAYS a love rat in The Affair – now Dominic West has thrown up questions about his own marriage after he was seen draped over Lily James in Rome. The pair are filming new BBC1 show T The Pursuit Of Love – but it is there chemistry off off-screen sc that is getting fans’ attention. Mrs West, landscape designer Catherine FitzGerald, was nowhere to be seen as West, 50, stroked newly single Lily’s hair at an al fresco lunch. He also wrapped his arms around the Mamma Mia! actress as they enjoyed an e-scooter ride and was pictured nuzzling into her neck in the Italian capital.
It is also alleged the pair stayed at the same luxury hotel, Hotel De La Ville, near the city’s famous Spanish Steps.
West has been wed to FitzGerald, 4 , for ten years and they have four children.
A female friend of his wife told Mail Online: ‘Catherine has seen the pictures.
She’s devastated. ‘Catherine has been trying to speak with Dominic but he’s not answering his phone. She thought they had a good marriage, now it’s probably over.
That’s how she feels.
The two of them need to speak but at the moment she’s lost for words.’
West, whose character Noah Solloway was a love cheat in The Affair, has been brutally honest about his views on monogamy in the past.
‘I suppose people suspect the conventions that we have agreed upon in society, that a man and woman can stay together for life without cheating – it’s not the necessarily natural way to be, therefore, there will always be adultery and intrigue about it,’ he said in an interview last year. As for Lily, 31, who used to date Doctor Who star Matt Smith, enjoyed a night cap with Captain America actor Chris Evans, 3 , at a London hotel in July. Guilty Pleasures contacted West and James’s reps for a comment but is yet to receive a reply.
