TIMELY REMINDER FOR MASON AFTER LATE ARRIVAL

-

MANCHESTER United’s teenage forward Mason Greenwood has reportedly been spoken to by the club over issues with punctuality.

Greenwood was not in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for last Saturday’s Premier League win at Newcastle or Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

Rumours were circulating that an off-field matter was behind his absence from the trip to Paris. But Solskjaer delivered a flat ‘no’ when that was put to him following the game in France.

The United boss said Greenwood (pictured) was ‘unfit to play’ on Saturday, but pictures then emerged of the youngster training just before the squad flew to Paris. When asked to provide details of the injury, Solskjaer said: ‘I can’t declare medical stuff, can I? It’s just a niggle and, as young as he is, we don’t want to take any chances with him.

Hopefully at the weekend (against Chelsea) he’ll be fine again.’

However, it was widely reported last night the 19-year-old has been reminded of his responsibilities after examples of poor timekeeping.

On the pitch, it was another night to remember for United, 19 months on from their last-16 miracle triumph at the Parc des Princes. Marcus Rashford was again the hero, with a late winner.

Defender Alex Tuanzebe, who returned to the team and impressed, said: ‘We came here to win. We showed PSG respect but ultimately we’re the bigger team, and we want to dominate and win. We’re not here for the music or the parade.’
